  • Premier League Primary Stars Kit

    Published 16/11/17

Pupils and staff from All Saint’s Primary, in Rangemore, are celebrating after being awarded a Premier League Primary Stars kit and equipment pack.

The pack contains a brand new football kit for 15 which will be used when pupils represent the school in various sporting activities, including football.

The Kit and Equipment Scheme forms part of the Premier League Primary Stars offer to primary schools in England and Wales. This is a curriculum-linked education programme that uses the appeal of the Premier League and its clubs to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills.

Delivered by the Football Foundation, the Premier League Primary Stars Kit and Equipment Scheme gives teachers a range of equipment that can be used across different curriculum areas to get children active.

Also available is a free downloadable suite of resources for teachers across Key Stages 1 and 2 in English, Maths, PE and PSHE. The easy-to-use materials have been developed in partnership with education organisations including the National Literacy Trust and the PSHE Association.

  • Football Tournament

    Published 16/11/17

Following on from the success of our football team last year (who reached the regional finals after beating much larger local schools), this year’s team began their season with a fantastic win in their first match wearing the new Premier League All Star Kits.

A group of boys represented the school with super individual effort and grew as a team, communicating well and working hard for each other to overcome a shaky start.  All Saint’s Alrewas were organised in defence and attacked strongly in the first half, scoring two goals.  Despite going behind, the Rangemore team continued to press and move the ball effectively as a team, being rewarded shortly after the half time break when a child  scored after a good passing move.  another boy added a second goal shortly afterwards and we continued to push for a winning goal.

The goalie, made some excellent saves throughout the match, particularly near the end of normal time as the Alrewas team also strove for a winner. Our defence held out until full time but, as this was a cup match, there had to be a winner.  The decision was made to play a period of extra time until one team scored a ‘golden goal’.

Both teams attacked well in the extra time period, with some crucial interceptions from Rangemore players all over the pitch.  They continued to put pressure on the opposition high up the pitch and were rewarded with a break on the Alrewas goal, which a child finished well to secure a win, and passage through to the next round of the cup.  We look forward to finding out who we will face in our next match.

Many thanks to parents for their transport and support.

  • St George's Park

    Published 15/11/17

On Wednesday  Class 3 and 4 were invited to attend St Georges Park where we were to be given a morning of expert football coaching.  As we arrived we were led through the impressive reception and onto the indoor 4G arena.  What an impressive venue for many of us who hadn’t played here before!  All the children were put through their paces with a variety of coaches all teaching us new drills and techniques.  So good were we that we shared the venue with the Greenland national side who I know sent a few admiring glances at our skills on show during our final game. – photo already sent through.

On Tuesday after school a super team of from Year 5 and 6 travelled to John Taylor High School to take part in an indoor athletics competition against other schools.  The event was run by John Taylor Young Ambassadors.  Our two teams did a sterling job representing the school in a wide range of track and field events.  All the children got stuck in and tried their very best against some tough opposition.  Next event coming up is a Dodgeball competition at the start of December. – Photo attached

  • Shugborough - A Snippet

    Published 01/11/17

This is just a little update to say that the children are having a ball at Shugborough. They have been blessed with good weather and the activities, food and sleep have been successful (well the sleep as expected). As they enter day 3 they will be getting more tired but the fun they are having and the teams they are building is worth it! There is little connectivity there and staff are on duty the whole time so it’s a bit different to the other sites where they had time to message and post photos. Anyway, just a little update to say that the children are happy and safe and having fun.
