All Saint’s Day was on 1st November. The children performed in front of parents and we were thrilled that Reverend Les, and his wife, Wendy Rees could make it for the service. The children demonstrated their knowledge by finding out facts about our saints, class 2 made large collage pictures of saints and class 1 have been learning about being special in the eyes of God and made haloes which they woe for the service. At the end of the Worship all of the children joined in singing ‘When the Saints go marching in’ as they danced around the hall in two circles making a large halo shape. A good time had by all!

Children and staff wore odd socks and shoes to raise money for the NSPCC. Some children also tried to guess where Charley the teddy bear came from, in order to win him and raise further funds for the charity. In total, children raised £99.50 for the NSPCC. Miss Williams also ran the Birmingham half marathon at the weekend and raised an additional £300. We’d like to thank all children, staff and parents for supporting and helping Miss Williams to raise a total of £400.50 for a fantastic charity that supports vulnerable children.

Federation Retreat to Dovedale House, Ilam (Sept 7017)

At the end of September, children from across The Forest Federation visited Dovedale House, in Ilam, Staffordshire, for a residential retreat, with two other schools.

Thought provoking activities flowed throughout the visit, all of which challenged ideas and notions, and aroused inspiration and renewal.

The children joined in with Taize style of worship which involves chanting short units of verse. The magnificent church of, St Bertram’s in the heart of the village, and the chapel at the retreat, provided a stunning setting for the candlelight service.

Reverend Les Rees, and his wife, Wendy, joined Bishop Geoff, and staff as the children took part in the activities.

The comfortable accommodation and delicious food were welcomed by the children and staff and completed a spiritual, refreshing and highly enjoyable visit.

The visit fulfilled and exceeded our expectations and will support the development of our worship within our schools.

On Monday 2nd of October we were thankful to welcome back Mr J Coltman who always provides us with such thought provoking worships.  This time Mr Coltman brought with him some intriguing boxes with him.  Inside these boxes there was something else inside like an old 5 shilling coin, a money box and some matches.  Each item represented something important to Mr Coltman and he discussed and shared these items with us and what each represented.  Themes like the light of god and absolute faith were discussed with many of the children sharing items that were important to them.  Once again we thank Mr Coltman and look forward to his next visit.
