After a disaster with the bus (20+mins late) and the very real prospect of forfeiting our first game Mrs Evans and Mrs Young stepped in to save the day, driving one of our teams down there to make it just in time for the match.
Both teams eventually made it and were faced with the prospect of playing the x18 teams from local schools which entered. Even though it was cold and blustery, spirits remained high and the children were a real credit throughout the afternoon. Mrs Wycherley had one team and Mr Meir the other, acting as coach and controlling substitutions. The teams consisted of a mix of boys and girls with two girls to be on the pitch at all times. As the afternoon progressed our support from parents grew and this really helped motivate the children, many thanks to all those who came down. Mrs Wycherley’s team played fantastically going all the way through until the quarter finals – a fantastic achievement.
Mr Meir’s Team went all the way! They battled through all games scoring plenty of fantastic goals with strong defensive play and above all a great team spirit. This spirit carried us through all early rounds, quarter final, semi final and the final. There were plenty of close games against much bigger schools than ourselves with some games having to be decided on penalty strokes. The team stuck together during these tense penalty situations with some fine goalkeeping from Joel whilst the rest of the children decided upon their own penalty takers and order of play. The team played with skill and guile and won the final and indeed the whole competition! The children along with parents were invited inside out of the wind and now rain to receive congratulations and the trophy, what a super achievement.
Mr John Coltman from Winshill Gospel hall led our worship today about the lost con and the lost sheep; The children enjoyed it and we thank Mr Coltman for his continued commitment to our schools.
We entered a Forest Federation team at the netball tournament Rykneld and played 4 matches. First we played Richard Crosse and lost 3-0, we were still settling in to playing together. From then we got better and better. Second match against Alrewas we drew 3-3, followed by two wins 1-0 against Rykneld and the 5-0 against Richard Wakefield. We were overall joint winners with Richard Crosse. Well done children.
All Saints Church of England (C) Primary School, Rangemore's football team, with Burton Albion Community Trust (BACT), had a fantastic day at Barnsley Football Club entering the Under Eleven's Tournament. Although unsuccessful in their bid to get to Wembley, the made their school proud by playing as a fabulous, supportive team against teams including Leeds, Blackburn, Huddersfield, Barnsley and Derby.
Neil Taylor, football and education lead sports therapist and coach commented "I'm thrilled with how well the team did, how they improved throughout the 5 games and they are a credit to All Saints School."
Children, staff and parents had a fabulousday, what an experience!
World book day was an excellent celebration of all things literary and children had a super day. All activities were based on the text ‘Where my Wellies take me’ by Michael and Clare Morpurgo. It was lovely to see the children mixing so well and sharing and supporting each other so brilliantly.
Thank you to our parents who stayed for our Pancake Day races. Everyone took part; even the staff! See this week’s newsletter for our winners! Everyone had a really good time. Class 1 even ate pancakes for snack!
We are thankful to Bishop Geoff and Rev. Les for leading such a beautiful, special Conformation service for Mrs Smith and Mrs Evans where they received the gift of the Holy Spirit..
Isaiah 11:2 The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord. It has been such a special day.
Luke 22: 19-20. 19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
Children had an amazing day with Perry from Burton Black Belt, organised and funded for us by Star Foundation. They learnt lots of new skills in this controlled, disciplined and active session. We are thankful to Perry and Star foundation for their commitment to activities for our schools.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of All Saints' families and friends.
