  • Class 3 Roman Experience

    Published 24/05/16

Class 3 enjoyed a fun and learning filled Romans day led by Titus AKA Murray.  This special learning was part of our topic on ancient civilisations and specific to our history studies.  First, Titus showed us how to put on the armour of a Roman Soldier which included chain-mail and plated armour.  Various class members tried on the armour which we tested against real weapons.  Some of the things Titus showed us were disgusting and made us laugh – a bit like ‘horrible histories’.  We enjoyed being led out in formation as Legionnaires and took part in battlefield training with plenty of full blooded war chants.  Titus showed us why the Romans were so successful in battle as we tried out the ‘turtle’ formation which protected us from Mr Meir’s ‘rocks’ and ‘boiling oil’.  We had a great time learning about the Romans and Titus helped to bring it all to life…and so we march sin dex, sin dex, sin dex.  Valete from class 3.

  • Celebrating the Queen's 90th Birthday and unveilling of Rangemore's New Sign

    Published 21/04/16

We have had a privileged day celebrating the Queen’s 90th Birthday, children planted red, white and blue planters donated by Parish councillor Di Milner for the village, they had a beautiful worship considering the Queen as the Head of the Church of England and our monarch and her amazing life of service. Each class undertook excellent  activities considering the Queen’s role and her life.  Additionally, children had a
wonderful celebratory lunch with thanks to our kitchen staff. Finally, we were blessed with a sunny day for the unveiling of Rangemore’s new sign— originally made by Norman Nicol, a local historian to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the accession to the throne of Queen Elizabeth II. It is fitting then that it is re-sited on her 90th birthday. The sign was re-furbished by Philip Walton of Burton on Trent.  We were thrilled to be joined by Mayor David Lees, East Staffs Borough Councillors Jaqui Jones and Julia Jessel and the Parish councillors, Jane Bristow, John Fawn, Di Milner and Helena Pointer.  Children enjoyed singing the National Anthem, another worship song and presenting readings from the bible and prayers.  The beacon lighting in the evening was a special opportunity to end a precious day

  • John Coltman's Worship - The Queen's Birthday

    Published 18/04/16

Mr Coltman shared another interesting worship session today, making links between the Queens forthcoming 90th Birthday, which we will be celebrating this week, and with Jesus.  The children listened well to links about 5 words; cards, crown, come, came and child, and Mr Coltman talked about similarities and differences for each category.  At the end of the session they were quick and eager to answer questions and we finished by practising the National Anthem, ready for Thursday’s celebrations.

  • Easter Service 2016

    Published 24/03/16

We had a wonderful time at our Easter Service 2016. Class 1 and 2 sang beautifully to 'Find a Little Seed' with their Spring time crowns, and Class 3 re-told the Easter story through scripture in a thoughtful and spiritual way. All Saints Entertainers acted out the Easter story through a play called 'He Is Risen'. The soloists Daisy and Teghan were amazing. We finished it all off back at school with a special Easter afternoon tea provided by staff and children, while the children took part in an Egg hunt. A beautiful start to our Easter celebrations.

  • Mr John Coltman's Worship - Easter!

    Published 23/03/16

Mr Coltman and I were both impressed in this week’s worship with the children’s memory skills.  So many of them could recall the stories about angels from  his last visit (even though it was a month ago) and there were lots of volunteers to answer the questions about the Easter story he told so well this time.  Everyone is really enjoying the new interactive sessions and love taking part in the recall test at the end.
