Viyan used to be unable to freely go out and play with the other children at break-times. It meant that he often didn't do a full day at school.
In August he got his Wizzybug from us and... Guess what?
Now he wants to stay full days at school because he can go out in the playground easily and move around as he pleases.
Having Wizzy has meant that his school life has improved no end, as his parents told us:
“Having a Wizzybug has changed Viyan's life for the better. He absolutely loves it.
“He mostly uses it at school and now wants to stay full days as he can now participate with the kids during break times when they go outside.
“He goes to a mainstream school with his sister and they are very disability-friendly. The first day he took the Wizzybug he felt like a king as all the parents and kids lined up as he went past into his class! Now he can get about at school easily.
“He loves going to the supermarket with it, too. Keeps us fit and busy running around with him!”
The family have a ramp installed from the front door to the drive at home which means that Viyan is able to get in and out of the house himself.
Another wonderful story about how Wizzy can change a life.
The team at the YMCA were thrilled with the produce which we delivered today collected at our harvest services. We thank you all again for your generosity.
Children enjoyed taking the harvest produce to some of our villagers.
Parents, staff and children had a fantastic night with autumnal food, the band DRY RAIN and lots of dancing!
Whilst not getting through to the final, both Forest Federation teams were unbeaten drawing or winning their football matches today. They played well and had a great time. (Sorry I didn't get a team photo).
We shared out 'seed' themed service with our families and members of our local community. The service had many songs, showcased the wonderful bread Class 2 created, made us think about how precious seeds are and allowed us time to reflect on what harvest is all about. We thank everyone for their kind donations of food which have been donated to the YMCA Foodbank in Burton as well as produce being shared with the local community.
Mr Coltman came to talk to us in worship today about the Plagues of Egypt and impressed us all reciting all sixty-six books of the bible from memory! He set us a challenge to see if we can recite them all too.
Magical Maths came to visit school to tell us all about their upcoming after school club held on Thursdays from the 29th September. If you are interested, please see the office for more information.
We held a beautiful service in church in order to present our new children with their bibles and to hold a communion service. It was a beautiful, reflective time and great to see so many families in attendance.
We are very proud of the 4 children who chose to take their first communion this week after a term of learning about the Eucharist. It was a full communion service where several children also received a blessing and it was a beautiful, special service. We thank Rev Les and Wendy Rees for their support and leading such a precious service.
31 children across The Forest Federation had a fantastic event running for 'Race for Life' and have raised over £1300 for such a worthy cause. We had a wonderful time, it was fabulous to see the children and families running around the field and it was special to see younger siblings too, the toddlers loved it! We also thank the parents who helped with refreshments. We are so proud of the children for entering into the spirit of the event, raising such great funds and it Is important to mention several families at Needood who rasied nearly £50 each and one family from Rangemore who raised over £1000. When they arrived on the field the girl said, "At first I felt nervous but when I got there I felt excited and happy. I am so proud to have raised so much and was determined to give it my all for all of the people who have supported me. So many people supported me because I wrote a letter saying that I was running in honour of my Nanna and my dads mum and 2 uncles as well as my mum's friend who is currently fighting back cancer. I was thrilled to raise £1,089 towards the school total." Well done to everyone.
