Shoebox Appeal 2018
Rev. Les came to collect the shoeboxes families have put together for Operation Christmas Child – Samaritan’s Purse. We thank children for their kind donations and know they will put a smile on a child’s face this Christmas.

Thank you to Mrs Berry and John Taylor’s sport ambassadors who came to talk to our children about Rugby, the upcoming World Cup and local teams.
Rev. Les came to lead worship today. He spoke about forgiveness and told us the story of The Prodigal Son and how the son asked his father for forgiveness. Rev Les told us that Jesus wants us to ask for forgiveness when we have done something wrong and that we find it in ourselves to forgive when others do wrong to us.
A performance about William Harold Coltman and Lily Thomas. William was a stretcher bearer and saved many lives and Lilly who sent many care packages and letters to soldiers, both were from Burton on Trent.
Mr Coltman spoke to the children today about the crosses in William Coltman's life. The Victoria Cross and the cross of Jesus. He explained the symbol of the poppy and why we remember people on Remembrance Day.
Our Remembrance Service was beautiful and peaceful. The church was excellently dressed for the weekend of activities and it only added to our service. We would like to thank Liz Ford and the community team for enabling us to be part of this special time.
Children had an amazing week at Laches wood! We thank Mr Brown, Mr Neeson and our staff for their hard work and leaving their families to ensure our children had a great week. The staff there were brilliant and the children were commended on their behaviour too, what an excellent week!
Children had a fantastic morning having a sports festival and interschool tournament with All Saints, Needwood and Thomas Russell Infant schools. Thank you to Mrs Pendleton, the Blessed Robert Sports partnership for helping organise it and to them and Burton Albion for leading many activities.
Children had 2 special days at the National Memorial Arboretum this week, KS1 on Monday and KS2 on Wednesday. Children had the opportunity to explore differing memorials, have an act of remembrance and explore the differing roles during the war. They were wonderful days and the team at the arboretum were complimentary about our children’s behaviour. An excellent day to add to the work we are doing to commemorate the anniversary of 100 years since the end of WW!.
Children had wonderful fun at the PTA disco this week, lots of dancing, tattoos, nail polish, food and drinks.
Children had a wonderful art session with thanks to the Burton Brewhouse team. All art created will be shown at The Brewhouse Arts Centre as part of the Town Trail on Saturday 10th November. The Trail is a guided tour around Bass House, Burton Library, St Modwen's Church, the town memorial, the Brewhouse Arts Centre and Confessions at Trinity to mark Remembrance Day and will include family activities and exhibitions. We thank them for this free opportunity to link with our WW1 and remembrance studies.
Children had an excellent time at the gifted and talented athletics sessions at Blessed Robert Sutton, the competed against 30 other children from across the area and we will know if they got through shortly! Well done to the children for an excellent event!
